RCA SHOW 2013

I visited the RCA 2013 show at Howie Street this evening after work. It was open until 8pm, but I only had a couple of hours and still did not see it all.
I am going to add names and more information to this post when I have time, perhaps next week and will re-blog this post
Photos are jumbled at the moment, but it gives an overview.
By the way, it was a mind blowing show.

Inside this concrete frame is a video of a crack between two land masses with rocks tumbling into the space.

The above photo shows a  plinth. Upon this plinth is a printed photograph of a  ‘non’ space,  printed out on to billboard material and then scrunched up. It becomes a sculpture or texture of information that is physically compressed into a screwed up ball, thus changing the space into something else. James’ work documents the entropic processes of the landscape.

Map of London above, with all un-catergorised spaces left as they are- white- and all the other areas that are recorded as a identified space are painted over in black.

I really like this video, where the artist had covered a house in gold foil and then recorded it blowing off the roof and billowing in the wind.

Philipp Dorl

This one was one of my favourites by Philipp Dorl, in Photography. Above, is an image with a projector shining onto its surface. The image below shows the physical qualities of the image. In reality, the image was not quite as blue, but it glowed and looked like a night time landscape.

On one wall, there is a photo of a women with an open book and singing is played from a hidden speaker. The photo is of a cave, which is covered in markings house111_08_201244The sculptures below are intriguing. Hidden objects are incased in glass boxes, the kind you get in institutions. You can not quite see what is inside. Also, the long planks of wood leaning against the wall were placed inside bottles of wine, so that the wood soaks up the wine and stains the sculpture.

The sculpture looks like it is on a bed of flour, but it is actually hard and all the finger prints do not move. It is by Clare Poulter.house111_08_201251 This was an installation about the death of their Grandmother. Death certificates were on the wall, various artefacts from their Grandmother’s house, this cake, a projection of the bed.house111_08_201252Projector shone through glass- Need to find artist name
